Amazing shopping finds- The modern day bloomer!
You know those tunics and dresses and button downs that are just way to short to wear without pants but too long to wear with pants.  Well, we’re approaching summer so the idea of leggings makes me sick.  In past seasons we may have thrown on a pair of leggings but instead, opt for the short short (or what I like to call the modern day bloomer).  Here’s a few to check out!       No....

Ladies and Gentlemen, step right up
I read the book “Water for Elephants” a year ago.  I can remember the exact series of events that made me pick it up.  After watching “Inglorious Basterds” I had to google Christoph Waltz and find more on this incredible actor.   News feeds read that he had signed on to play August in a film adaptation of “Water for Elephants,” a book I’d browsed through in Barnes and Nobles.  It hadn’t peaked my...

RIP
Tim Hetherington (1970-2011) Last night I was doing a little research for a future blog post; I really should have been going to bed, but I thought I’d go to The Huffington Post really quick.  The fifth story down “Oscar nominated director killed in Libya” was under such stories as “Lindsey Lohan loses another big role,” “Tyra Banks without makeup,” and “Kevin Smith: Seth Rogen made me a...

You can get Clooney at this bar
The Milk Bar- New Orleans, LA 1514 Delechaise- right off of St. Charles. I took my mom here for lunch with the dog and had an awesome time.  The weather was perfect.  We shared a sandwich called the Clooney Special (marinated chicken, avocado, tomato, red onions, mozzarella, and lemon mayo). God, it was good.  I also got a vanilla milkshake (made with real ice cream).  Also, so good.  I...

Amazing shopping finds!
Run, Don’t Walk In the past 10 years I’ve rarely shopped at Payless.  I never seemed to find anything I liked.  About two weeks ago, I dropped by a Payless store on a whim just to see what they’re up to now.  Suffice it to say I was pleasantly surprised.  They have now enlisted high end designers, much like Target.  Their prices have gone up a tad, but these designer shoes...

Easy Necklace Display
So, do you have a few statement necklaces that are huge and chunky and amazing?  And then you wonder where can I keep them when I’m not wearing them.  Well, I have a few of those necklaces, because I adore them.  So I came up with a rather artistic way of displaying them. 1. Find a thick bulletin board.  I got mine from The Container Store.  You can also find them at Walmart; just make...

What my Closet Craves- April Week #2
  J. Crew- the “J” must stand for Jessica You can find the J. Crew spring 2011 collection above.  As you can see, it’s very monochromatic, very muted,  very khaki- centric.  While I love this color scheme, I’m looking to their fall 2011 collection (below) for inspiration.  Yes, the fall collection was shown late March.  It is making me miss the layering that this hot...

top: J. Crew; pants: Gap; belt: H&M; flats: Steve Madden; bag: Francesca’s Sorry I only had time for one pic today.  As you can see I pulled colors from my previous “cravings” post.  I’m sort of still clinging to winter clothes and these have a luxurious feel while still being light and airy.

No plain Jane- No plain adaptation
Any new adaptation of Charlotte Bronte’s Jane Eyre is always welcomed by me.  I love seeing the exploration of the same story through different styles and viewpoints.  What dialogue will they keep?  What will they omit?  The casting is always important and the tone is vital too.  And because they are so significant I have yet to find the “perfect” adaptation for my taste… until I saw the newest...
